Our work supports infrastructure, land development, redevelopment, and public and private projects by identifying environmental challenges early and helping clients move forward safely and efficiently. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Scientist to support our Assessment + Remediation Division with a strong focus on fieldwork and technical data collection. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, executing environmental investigations, and developing their core technical competencies over time. In this position, you will primarily support Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and remediation projects through field activities, environmental sampling, and data documentation. You may also assist with limited desktop research and data compilation for technical reports under the guidance of senior staff. Success in this role comes from attention to detail, reliability in the field, and a commitment to safety and continuous learning.
What You'll Do:
Perform site visits, field observations and field data collection and/or field assignments Complete work accurately and with oversight from project managers Perform regulatory and technical research as needed to support project objectives Collect environmental monitoring samples such as soils, groundwater, industrial wastewater, asbestos products, and industrial hygiene air monitoring by performing field measurements, recording data and setting up sampling instrumentation Complete quality reports detailing tests conducted and results with oversight from project managers Support senior staff with data compilation and organization, basic regulatory or technical research, preparation of figures, tables, and limited report sections Follow established health, safety, and quality procedures Travel to project sites as needed and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
What We're Looking For:
2-5 years of experience in environmental consulting, with hands-on fieldwork Experience supporting Phase I and Phase II ESAs and/or site investigations Familiarity with environmental sampling techniques and equipment Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork for extended periods and in all seasonal conditions Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field Basic understanding of environmental regulations and site investigation practices Strong attention to detail and data accuracy Ability to follow technical direction and work both independently and as part of a team Good communication skills and willingness to learn Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook) Additional experience in the following areas will be strongly considered: OSHA 40-hour
HAZWOPER
training (or ability to obtain) Professional certifications and licensing Experience with soil, groundwater, and/or air sampling Exposure to industrial hygiene, stormwater, or remediation field activities Preparation of exhibits using ArcGIS or AutoCAD Experience conducting hydrogeology, vapor intrusion assessment, corrective action planning and report writing.
