BENEFITS QUESTIONS About this Job 28/13086/EIS1-3/5.20.26-SC Section 28 - Environmental Environmental Impact Specialist 1-3 This position is responsible for the completion of field investigation, analysis, and evaluation of environmental and biological resources in relation to the study area of proposed projects in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and Section 4(f) of the U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT) Act, Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act, and other environmental laws and regulations. This work is performed statewide on a year round basis. This position is also responsible for completing environmental and biological resources reports and technical documents for these projects. Coordination and consultation with the Federal and State agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Marine Fisheries, and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, federally recognized Tribes via FHWA, Consulting Parties, the public, and other stakeholders as appropriate is necessary for proper research and evaluation of effects and natural/biological resources. This position requires a driver's license to participate in field investigations as well as public and agency involvement events. While in official capacity, DOTO employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rule, and regulations, as well as DOTO policies, procedures, manuals, and directive. Preference will be given to candidate with a degree in biological sciences or related fields with experience. Performs on-site environmental survey of natural resources to gather data as required, including but not limited to wetlands and other Waters of the U.S., threatened and endangered species and their habitats, and biological and ecological assessments. Writes reports and other documentation on the results of investigation, evaluations, and analyses of social, economic, and environmental impacts of proposed projects. Uses Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and other mapping tools and software in delineating resources and preparing reports, as well as various other mapping tools and software (ex. System of Engagement). Oversees and reviews/comments/approves the work of consultants performing environmental and natural resources work. Develops scopes of service and man-hours for consultant contracts and reviews/approves environmental portion of consultant invoices. Actively participates in public involvement events such as Public Hearings and Public Meetings. Coordinates, schedules, advertises, attends, and prepares material for public, stakeholders, and agency meetings and hearings for projects assigned. Develops recommendations to mitigate impacts to wetlands and threatened and endangered species and other resources. Performs internal peer review of other staff's written work. Reviews and provides comments directly to coworkers as part of peer review procedures for in-house quality control.Position-Specific Details:

The maximum salary for the Environmental Impact Specialist 3 is $84,136. This position is eligible for a 10% base pay adjustment upon attainment of permanent status.
