Job Description

Job Title Senior Environmental Planner Company Description Join a well-established, multidisciplinary consulting firm supporting transportation and infrastructure projects across the Midwest. This organization is known for its collaborative culture, strong client relationships, and continued investment in growing its environmental practice. The team partners with public and private sector clients on impactful projects involving transportation, water resources, and community development. Location Flexible within the Midwest (Hybrid or Remote within regional proximity to office locations) Role Summary This is a strategic hire with the opportunity to play a key role in expanding environmental services within the transportation sector. The Senior Environmental Planner will support and lead NEPA documentation, permitting efforts, and client coordination while also contributing to business development and team growth. Responsibilities Lead preparation of NEPA documentation including Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, and Categorical Exclusions Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies on permitting and environmental compliance Prepare permits related to Clean Water Act Sections 401 and 404 and support agency consultations Review wetland delineations and jurisdictional determinations Collaborate with project managers on technical proposals and project pursuits Support business development efforts and client relationship management Participate in public meetings and stakeholder engagement efforts Assist with budgeting, project planning, and internal coordination across teams Contribute to hiring and mentoring of environmental staff as the team grows Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Ecology, or related field 5+ years of experience in environmental planning, permitting, and NEPA documentation Strong understanding of transportation or infrastructure projects Experience preparing Environmental Assessments and similar regulatory documents Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting DOT or public agency projects in the Midwest Background in wetland permitting, threatened and endangered species evaluations, or water resources Experience contributing to proposals and client development efforts Previous leadership or mentoring experience What's in it for You Opportunity to build and shape an environmental team within a growing practice High visibility role with direct impact on strategy and project delivery Collaborative and entrepreneurial work environment Competitive compensation: $90K•140K base + performance bonuses Comprehensive benefits including health, 401(k) with match, PTO, and additional incentives How to Apply Apply directly or send your resume with the subject line: Senior Environmental Planner•Midwest .
