Job Description Job Overview Under general supervision, this position will interface daily with the Program Manager for DFW Airport's Water Resource team and provide innovative support in improving overall environmental performance in aspects related to water resources, water quality, and municipal and industrial stormwater compliance. The candidate is required to demonstrate a specific understanding of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination System (TPDES), especially regulatory requirements pertinent to stormwater requirements. This position is required to perform technical work within an office environment as well as manual field labor. Technical judgement shall be integrated with innovation and digitization to ensure environmental policies and goals are aligned to the Airport's strategic focus.
What you will be doing:
Administer assigned environmental compliance program(s); analyzes federal, state, and local environmental regulations that impact airport property, planning and/or operations and develops options for compliance with impacted work and/or operational areas; and develops technical recommendations. Ensure effective execution of DFW Airport's Stormwater Management Plan, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, and associated stormwater permits and contracts. Perform field investigations, inspections, audits and remediation activities having impact on assigned water resource projects. Performs testing and sampling of water (e.g., stormwater, watershed, wastewater) in accordance with applicable regulatory criteria; analyzes and interprets data. Collection of samples involves carrying equipment, in all weather conditions, to and from collection sites which may include remote or undeveloped areas. Operate various in-situ and field water monitoring and sampling equipment along with data collection and communication devices to support the airport's stormwater, watershed, and TMDL related programs. Analyzing and interpreting data that impacts on strategic decision making. Collaborate with airport utility operators and engineers to ensure proper management, and opportunity for improvement, of water collection, delivery, and treatment systems. Maintain databases and conduct QA/QC data oversight as required in order to prepare discharge monitoring reports and other technical reports to support state and federal regulations. Clearly articulate environmental objectives, sustainability practices, and expectations with both technical and non-technical audiences and a number of stakeholders. Manage multiple project deliverables while keeping all projects on track and meeting regulatory deadlines. Assist with the development and implementation of Community Outreach programs.What you need:
Bachelor's degree in physical or life sciences, environmental science, engineering or related field from an accredited college or university. Two (2) years of professional experience in water resource management or environmental compliance. Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above. Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.Special requirements:
Maintain certification and license to drive in Airfield Operations Area (AOA) movement and non-movement areas to access all portions of the airport property. Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et. Al. and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal. This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport's Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug screening test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position. This is a designated essential employee position as defined in the Categories and Classifications of Employees Policy of the Airport Administrative Policy and Procedure. This is defined as an employee whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation. Department may designate specific area(s) of environmental experience. Fulfill all training requirements and activities in accordance with Title 14 CFR Part 139 and Administrative Policy AO.014.01, Ground Vehicle Driver Training for Air Operations Area.What we desire:
