Job Description

The City of Redmond is a thriving, culturally diverse community and home to over 80,000 residents. Redmond is the hub of an array of commerce and industry ranging from technology, aerospace, and gaming to biomedical and innovation start-ups. In this role, you will represent the city, and our values of service, integrity, accountability, belonging and stewardship. Get involved with environmental stewardship and urban forestry in Redmond! This program will introduce high-school interns to urban forestry, environmental restoration, and offer job-skills training opportunities. Interns will complete a project based on communicating an issue related to urban forestry in Redmond to the public and/or their peers. The program will occur in City of Redmond Parks, primarily Green Redmond Partnership restoration sites. No previous experience is needed. Interns will enjoy spending time outdoors and have a curiosity to learn about nature and the environment through hands-on environmental stewardship.

August 4 - 12; 30 hours total
Hours/Schedule :
The schedule for this role will vary. The position is limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week and no more than 1,040 hours per year. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Attend and participate in internship daily Preform environmental stewardship at Green Redmond restoration sites Safely use provided tools and materials Complete an independent project focused on communicating an issue related to environmental stewardship to the public or your peers Physical Demands The following represent the physical demands that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Work is generally performed outside in City parks, including walking around the park and on uneven ground. Work includes physical environmental restoration, using tools including shovels and loppers.
Education and Experience:
Enrolled and attending high school Developing basic MS Office skills (email, Internet Explorer, Word) Other Approved reasonable accommodation requests will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
