Job Description

Overview The Flat Gold Project is recruiting for its seasonal exploration program in Flat, Alaska, anticipated to run between May and October.
Job Description:
The Geotechnician will assist the Geology Department with transport of core, geological data collection, and long-term storage management of drill core during the field season, expected to extend from May to October 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist geologists with drill core handling and sampling
  • Receive drill core at camp and manage transfer to logging facilities using various small equipment such as skid steers, telehandlers, and light duty vehicles
  • Assist with data collection by cleaning core, ensuring core box labeling is correct and consistent, collecting RQD and Recovery measurements, and photographing core boxes according to protocol
  • Assist with the collection of specific gravity measurements
  • Package core samples in preparation for shipment
  • Assist geology department with organization of core laydown
  • Support field operations, as needed
  • Comply with safety & health, environmental and Company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Experience working in remote camp settings preferred
  • Ability to implement and adhere to safety standards required While performing the duties of this job, employees may be frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, use hand and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, regularly required to talk and hear.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. This position is a 2 - 3 week on / 2 - 3 weeks off rotation, working a 12-hour daily shift.
