Position Summary:
The objective of this position is to perform various routine fire assay procedures for the analysis of Au & Ag in metallic and fines samples.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Basic math skills including fractions and decimals. Accurate record-keeping ability.
Communication:
Effective verbal and written English communication skills, with ability to accurately complete assigned paperwork in a neat manner
Physical Capability:
Ability to lift between 50 and 60 pounds (with or without assistance). Work requires frequent standing and occasional reaching Demonstrated attention to detail Must be able to make decision when inspecting samples and performing assay procedures Must be able to read interpret adjustable measuring devices. Ability to use the company's computer network including SAP, as needed and Microsoft Office Suite products as needed.
Responsibilities:
Using electronic micro balance. Setting up and completing fire assay worksheets using computer and entering assay data into computer assay system. Learning various fire assay procedures including cupellation, scorification, fusion, inquartation, annealing and parting. Preparing fluxes, dry cupels, roll out pin samples Checking and recording balance calibrations Measuring and recording hood air velocities Making up parting solutions, Preparing samples for instrumental assay for pd/pt/Ag Learning how to schedule various jobs for most efficient completion of assay. Following all of the company's standard operating procedures and quality policies and procedures
Workplace Maintenance:
Maintaining and cleaning labware, equipment and area.
Regulatory Requirements:
Per training provided, following all safety and environmental rules and regulations of the company Performing other duties as directed or required.
Education:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent experience as required by the job
Experience:
One year experience in a chemical manufacturing company preferred, but will train qualified person
