Job Description

Job Title:
Environmental Field Technician Job Description This role supports environmental operations by safely handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials, performing decontamination activities, and assisting with field tasks such as soil sampling and remediation. You will work in a hands-on, physically active position that contributes directly to environmental protection and site cleanup efforts. Responsibilities Perform routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling tasks, including the movement of solid and liquid materials. Conduct decontamination operations on equipment, tools, and work areas in accordance with established procedures. Pack, re-pack, label, and secure containers of hazardous and non-hazardous waste to ensure safe storage and transport. Load and unload containers, drums, and other waste vessels using proper lifting techniques and handling practices. Support soil sampling activities in the field by preparing equipment, collecting samples, and following sampling protocols. Assist with environmental remediation tasks, including site preparation, cleanup, and restoration activities. Perform general labor duties in support of environmental field operations, such as site setup, equipment staging, and housekeeping. Use basic mechanical skills to operate, inspect, and maintain tools and equipment used in environmental fieldwork. Follow all safety procedures and training guidelines related to hazardous waste operations and emergency response. Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and ensure safe, efficient field operations. Essential Skills Completion of 24-hour hazardous waste operations training (Hazwoper) or the ability to obtain it as required. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Reliable transportation to travel to job sites and reporting locations. Experience or strong interest in environmental fieldwork, including handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Ability to follow detailed safety procedures and operational instructions. Willingness to perform physically demanding, hands-on work in outdoor and field environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in environmental science, remediation, or related environmental fieldwork. Experience with soil sampling techniques and field data collection. Mechanical aptitude to work with tools, equipment, and basic machinery. General labor or construction experience in physically demanding roles. Experience in farming or agriculture, demonstrating comfort with outdoor, hands-on work. Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in field settings. Why Work Here? The role requires frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and regular use of tools and equipment related to environmental fieldwork and remediation. Work hours may vary depending on project needs, and you may be required to travel to different job sites using your own reliable transportation. Appropriate safety gear and protective clothing will be provided and must be worn as required by site conditions and safety procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of West Bridgewater, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
