Function/Duties of Position This position supports an ongoing environmental health research grant as part of the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership Ecosystem Monitoring Program to collect and analyze water quality and biological samples to track habitat conditions of intertidal marshes in the Lower Columbia River The successful applicant will assist with preparation for field work, sample collection and preservation during field work, and sample processing in the laboratory. Additional duties include: 1) deployment and maintenance of water quality sensors, 2) Laboratory sample processing and analysis, and 3) Data entry, data management, and data analysis. Required Qualifications Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in Graduate Program (minimum 4.5 credit hours) Valid driver's license, excellent organizational skills Ability to perform the job duties with or without accommodation. Preferred Qualifications Public health or environmental science/management Work in environmental science laboratory and/or field work. Small boat operations Working with large datasets using MS Excel or similar. Experience with microscopy. Familiarity with R and R Studio. Additional Details Working in an environmental chemistry laboratory at OHSU (year round) and assisting with field sampling in marshes of the Lower Columbia River (Feb - Oct). Will require full days (8 hours) to complete field work, up to 5 days per month during field season. Laboratory work includes sample preparation, sample processing, equipment maintenance, and data entry. Benchtop chemistry and microscopy training will be provided.
