Job Title:
Environmental Technician I Job Description Aerotek is hiring immediately for an environmental technician in Providence, RI! This role offers an opportunity to start or advance a hands-on career in the environmental field. As an Environmental Technician I, you safely handle, transport, and sort waste materials in a warehouse and yard setting while supporting environmental remediation and waste management operations. You receive full training, including a 40-HourHAZWOPER
certification, and have clear paths for growth into higher-level technician roles. This position is full time offering competitive pay and benefits! Responsibilities Safely transport drums of waste within the facility and to designated areas for processing or storage. Identify and verify drum labels to determine the type of material and ensure correct handling procedures. Load and unload drums onto and off trucks using appropriate tools and safe lifting techniques. Separate hazardous and non-hazardous waste by placing drums and materials into the correct areas of the warehouse. Dispose of waste properly by placing drums into the hopper according to established safety and environmental guidelines. Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse by sweeping, organizing materials, and keeping walkways and work areas free of debris. Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations while working both indoors and outdoors. Use basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to support environmental remediation tasks as needed. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate daily tasks and ensure safe operations. Participate in required training, including HAZWOPER and safety courses, and apply this knowledge consistently on the job. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in environmental labor or a closely related general labor role. Ability to safely handle, move, load, and unload drums and other heavy materials in a warehouse and field environment. Basic understanding of environmental field work, including handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Strong safety awareness and willingness to follow OSHA and environmental compliance guidelines. Reliable work ethic with a consistent, on-time attendance record. Ability to work Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Physical ability to work on your feet for extended periods and perform manual labor in both indoor and outdoor conditions. Clear communication skills to read and interpret labels and follow written and verbal instructions. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Providence, RI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
