Radiation Technician Position Overview:
Perform surveys, inspections, sample collections, and sample analysis in support of the Safety program at NFS. All work is done in accordance with written procedures. Most work involves a knowledge of mathematics and some chemistry.Location:
On-site in Erwin, Tennessee. Your Day to Day as aRadiation Technician:
Perform contamination surveys- building, outside control, transition zones, etc.
- beta/gamma. Perform response check and repair of hand monitors (replace face plates and batteries, cords, etc.). Set up and analyze results of portable air samplers. Change safety numbers and letters on plant safety bulletin board. Record data from instrumentation, requiring basic multiplication and division. Perform some lab analyses
- environmental, stack sample, water, air samples. Check pH on water samples. Load and unload film badges. Weigh CO2 cylinders. Calibrate Air Sample Flow Meters. Perform calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- usually calculated using a hand-held calculator.
