Cates Laboratories specializes in the analysis of asbestos, fungal structures (mycology), mortars as well as architectural coatings and forensic petrographic services. Cates Laboratories is a NVLAP accredited, woman-owned business that operates in Dallas, Texas. Quality services is the number one priority of CatesLab, of which there are two primary aspects: Client Services & Quality Assurance. It is crucial to communicate openly with the client during contract negotiation and during the execution of the contracted work. CatesLab understands that client deadlines are critical in order for the client to disseminate information and make recommendations to the property manager/owner. Therefore, sample turnaround is high priority, without compromising quality. CatesLab encourages feedback from clients in order to improve the quality system, testing activities and client service. Cateslab emphasizes and adheres to all aspects of the laboratory quality system. A laboratory is only as good as its functional quality system. It must be carried out with the same attention as the actual work performed. Quality analytical testing will not be compromised by turnaround time. Analysts receive classroom academic instruction as well as hands-on training, which is emphasized during the training process. Quality Control (QC) is performed in a timely manner in order to ensure that quality laboratory test results are being produced

JOB DESCRIPTION

CatesLab is searching for a part time or full time Asbestos PLM Analyst in Dallas, TX.

DUTIES:

Analyze bulk building/insulation materials for Asbestos by Polarized Light Microscopy, EPA/600/R-93/116 Analytical lab work, no field work Prepare samples from processing Observe, track, and record sample characteristics (including color, texture, shape, size, etc.) Ensure sampling instrumentation and tools are clean and in a workable condition Record sample data and enter into log books and CatesLab database. Create and present detailed reports on sample findings Report any irregular findings to superiors Participate in proficiency testing rounds biannually Work according to state and nationally enforced standards Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed. QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED is required. Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship. Experience and/or optical mineralogy course work a plus, but will train Good fit for geology students and other physical science majors
