Waterway Maintenance Technician (Environmental Debris Cleanup for Litter Boom) River Aid San Antonio San Antonio, TX Job Details Part-time | Contract From $18.75 an hour 21 hours ago Qualifications Safe work practices Photography Outdoor work Outdoor debris cleaning Cleaning Full Job Description Contractor for maintaining Litter Boom Systems around the San Antonio Area River Aid San Antonio is seeking a dedicated and hardworking waterway maintenance technician to help maintain our Litter Boom Systems, a device that passively catches trash floating downstream at seven sites around the San Antonio area. This role involves physically demanding work on the water, including utilizing kayaks & waders to remove litter and debris from the waterways and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Show up promptly for service with the proper attire. Conduct environmental clean-up operations on water, utilizing kayaks & waders to access waterways. Capture before and after photos of the litter boom system. Learn and execute the Escaped Trash Assessment Protocol (ETAP). This involves sorting, weighing, and categorizing recovered debris at each site. Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols during maintenance activities.
Requirements:
Must be physically fit and able to perform strenuous activities on both land and water, including paddling, lifting heavy debris, and carrying equipment. Comfortable working on the water in a kayak for extended periods. Comfortable working in dirty or muddy environments (both on land and in the water) to handle waterlogged trash. Strong commitment to environmental conservation and community service. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable transportation to and from the 7 sites. Preferred (But Not Required) Previous experience in environmental clean-up or similar outdoor work is preferred but not required. Providing your own boat is preferred but not required.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience, starting at $18.75 per hour.
