Job Description
The Environmental Field Technician supports environmental projects through field sampling, data collection, monitoring, and reporting. This role involves conducting site visits, collecting environmental samples, maintaining field equipment, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on fieldwork and is detail-oriented, reliable, and safety-focused. Key Responsibilities Perform field sampling and monitoring activities (soil, groundwater, surface water, air, and/or vapor) Conduct environmental site assessments and assist with investigations and remediation projects Collect, document, and properly handle samples in accordance with established protocols Maintain accurate field notes, logs, and chain-of-custody documentation Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain field and sampling equipment Support drilling, monitoring well installation, and remediation system activities Comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including site-specific safety plans Assist with data entry, report preparation, and coordination with project teams Communicate field observations and findings to project managers and technical staff Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent field experience) 0-5+ years of environmental field experience (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply) Ability and willingness to perform outdoor fieldwork in varying weather conditions Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures Basic computer skills and familiarity with data collection and reporting Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Wauwatosa, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
