Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Infection Preventionist to lead our efforts in safeguarding patient and staff health through comprehensive infection control practices. In this vital role, you will develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention protocols across various healthcare settings. Your expertise will help minimize the risk of infectious diseases, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and promote a culture of safety and public health excellence. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, and healthcare operations, and a passion for improving patient outcomes through meticulous infection prevention strategies. Duties Develop, implement, and evaluate infection control policies aligned with current public health guidelines and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and HIPAA. Conduct thorough data collection and management related to infection rates, outbreaks, and compliance metrics using advanced data management tools. Perform patient observation and monitoring to identify potential infection risks promptly. Review medical records and documentation to ensure accurate recording of infection control practices and incident reports. Lead staff education initiatives on aseptic techniques, OSHA standards, microbiology basics, and infectious disease care protocols. Collaborate with clinical teams to oversee patient care procedures involving physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and infectious disease management. Monitor environmental conditions and enforce proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to maintain aseptic techniques in acute care and assisted living environments. Conduct epidemiological investigations during outbreaks or unusual infection patterns to identify sources and implement corrective actions. Supervise management of infection control programs within healthcare facilities such as hospitals or assisted living communities. Ensure compliance with occupational health standards by overseeing patient monitoring procedures and occupational health protocols. Experience Proven experience in infection prevention or control within acute care hospitals or long-term care facilities such as assisted living communities. Critical care experience highly preferred to manage complex infectious disease cases effectively. Strong background in microbiology, epidemiology, anatomy, physiology, and public health principles. Demonstrated ability to manage data collection systems related to infection rates, MDS (Minimum Data Set), and medical records documentation review. Leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams or healthcare staff training programs. Familiarity with OSHA regulations, HIPAA compliance standards, medical terminology, and documentation requirements. Prior experience with infection control programs focusing on aseptic technique implementation and occupational health safety measures. $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
