Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Infection Preventionist Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our healthcare team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in infection prevention and control, with a strong background in acute and long-term care settings. As an Infection Preventionist LVN, you will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and monitoring infection control policies to ensure the safety of residents and staff. Your leadership will help foster a culture of health, safety, and compliance aligned with healthcare regulations and best practices. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention and control programs in accordance with CDC guidelines, OSHA standards, and health regulation policies. Conduct ongoing surveillance of infectious diseases through data collection, patient observation, and microbiology testing to identify potential outbreaks or risks. Review medical records and documentation to ensure compliance with infection control protocols and accurate reporting of infection incidents. Educate staff on aseptic techniques, disease prevention policies, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Monitor patient care activities to ensure adherence to infection control standards during medical-surgical procedures, patient monitoring, and care plans. Collaborate with management to update policies based on epidemiology data, public health directives, and evolving healthcare infection prevention strategies. Lead investigations into infection outbreaks or incidents, providing recommendations for corrective actions while maintaining HIPAA privacy standards. Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and disease processes to inform effective infection prevention practices. Experience Proven experience in healthcare settings such as assisted living facilities, hospitals—including Level I Trauma Centers—and micro-specialized units like critical care or medical-surgical units. Demonstrated expertise in healthcare infection prevention and control practices within acute care environments. Familiarity with MDS (Minimum Data Set) processes for long-term care documentation review and data management. Strong understanding of health regulation policies including CDC guidelines, OSHA standards, HIPAA compliance, and disease prevention policies. Experience managing or leading infection control programs with a focus on epidemiology and public health initiatives. Knowledge of microbiology, infectious disease care protocols, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to infection prevention efforts. Leadership skills capable of training staff on infection control procedures while fostering a culture of safety across teams. $40.00 - $44.00 per hour
