POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of your job position is to help prevent and identify the spread of infectious agents like bacteria and viruses in the environment in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards that govern the facility, and as directed by your supervisors. The Infection Control Nurse will have oversight of all infection control and prevention related activities within the facility. Performs infection prevention risk assessments and surveillance to comply with regulating agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with planning, development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and revision of Infection Prevention and Control Program goals, standards, policies and procedures. Coordinates interdepartmental efforts to improve performance of infection prevention/control programs and services. Reports communicable diseases and supporting laboratory data to the local, state and national health departments as required. Participates in the development and review of Infection Prevention and Control Standards of Care, Policy and Procedure for assigned areas. Provides in-service education for the facility as needed Provides expert review and consultation for facility construction/remodels, and/or new patient care equipment. Other duties as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum one (1) year as an Infection Control Professional in a SNF
• High School Diploma or General Education Development(GED) required
• LVN or RN license required

WORKING CONDITIONS

• May encounter frequent interruptions
• May be involved with residents, family and government agencies
• May be requested to work beyond scheduled working hours at times
• Is subject to call‑back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post‑disaster, etc.)
• May be subjected to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoking or air contaminants
• May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses
• May be exposed to or handle hazardous chemicals

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day
• Working throughout the nursing areas
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

I understand as a result of my employment, I may be exposed to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants (including tobacco smoke), and hazardous chemicals and the facility will provide to me instructions on how to prevent and control such exposures. I further understand I may also be exposed to the Hepatitis B virus and the facility will make available to me, free of charge, the Hepatitis B vaccination. I understand my employment is at‑will, and thereby understand my employment may be terminated at‑will either by the facility or myself and such termination can be made with or without notice.

$37.59 - $42.00 per hour
