About the
Role:
Grand Valley Health and Rehabilitation is seeking an Infection Preventionist to- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct the Infection Control Program. Develop, review, maintain, interpret, and periodically update reference materials, infection control precautions, isolation procedures, aseptic techniques, decontamination and sterilization guidelines and procedures for disposal and removal of infective and contaminated materials. Maintain responsibility to educate staff, residents, and representatives on Antibiotic Stewardship. Identify and monitor infected personnel and residents to ensure that established precautions and procedures are followed. Assist in evaluating, classifying, and ensuring implementation and proper application of Standard Precautions and infection control practices and procedures throughout the facility. Maintain records and prepare monthly summaries of all resident and personnel infections, corrective and precautionary actions taken and the results of such actions. Ensure proper follow-up procedures for needle sticks and other bodily fluid exposure incidents and perform, review, and analyze laboratory tests, services and surveys and provide pertinent reports, findings and recommendations to the Director of Nursing Services, the Administrator and County and State health departments. Ensure that residents with known infectious diseases are treated accordingly and necessary reporting to the local health department has been completed. Participate in interviewing and screening residents for admission to the facility as warranted. Ensure that all nursing services personnel follow established infection control precautions, Standard Precautions, and aseptic techniques at all times.
About you:
The ideal candidate would have the following skills and experience: Must be a licensed practical nurse or a registered nurse in good standing and meet all applicable Federal and State licensure requirements. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures and laws, regulations and guidelines governing Long Term Care. Must possess health certificate/examination as required by State agencies. The IP must be qualified by education, training, experience, or certification. The IP must have the knowledge to perform the role. The IP should remain current with infection prevention and control issues and be aware of national organizations' guidelines as well as those from national/state/local public health authorities (e.g., emergency pathogens). Infection prevention and control (IPC) training must be sufficient to perform the role of the IP. Specialized training in IPC may include care for residents with invasive medical devices, resident care equipment (e.g., ventilators), and treatment such as dialysis as well as high-acuity conditions. An IP must have obtained specialized PIC training beyond initial professional training or education prior to assuming the role. Training can occur through more than one course, but the IP must provide evidence of training through certificate(s) of completion or equivalent documentation.
