Chief Infection Control Officer & Hospital Epidemiologist, Infectious Diseases Physician Tufts Physician Organization Boston, MA Job Details Full-time $282,000 - $325,000 a year 17 hours ago Qualifications Collaborate with healthcare professionals Disease prevention Infectious disease care Research Patient safety Healthcare infection prevention and control expertise Change management Mentoring Hospital experience Cross-functional communication Full Job Description Tufts Division of Geographic Medicine and Infectious Diseases is seeking a board-certified Infectious Disease Physician to serve as a Hospital Epidemiologist at Tufts Medical Center and system-wide Chief Infection Control Officer (CICO) for Tufts Medicine. This physician-leader role combines clinical practice in Infectious Diseases with strategic leadership in Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology across the Tufts Medicine health system. The candidate will provide strategic, hospital and healthcare system-wide leadership for infection control. The candidate must be invested in contributing to the academic mission, be an effective communicator, and able to lead and implement system-wide change. The Tufts Medical Center ID and Hospital Epidemiologist responsibilities include: Serving on the inpatient consult service for Tufts Division of Geographic Medicine and Infectious Diseases Collaborate with senior leadership to define infection prevention goals and metrics according to current standards, while aligning with organizational priorities Oversight of infection control standards and regulatory compliance Education of staff, clinicians and trainees on infection prevention strategies and policy Collaboration with the Infection Prevention team, quality, and analytics team to monitor infection trends, safety events, performance outcomes and measure impacts of interventions including oversight of the surveillance and reporting of hospital-acquired infection [HAIs] Lead outbreak prevention, investigation, and response Advance infection prevention research and innovation The Chief Infection Control Officer responsibilities include: Orchestrating aligned epidemic preparedness and outbreak response through strategic partnerships with hospital leaders Partner with infection prevention leaders and infection prevention teams to align evidence-based practices and improve patient safety and clinical outcomes In collaboration with clinical leaders at each institution, advance a system-wide infection prevention performance improvement agenda, ensuring consistency, regulatory compliance and adaptability to emerging infectious threats Represent Tufts Medicine in national, regional, academic and public health forums focused on infection prevention and pandemic preparedness Providing strategic leadership and oversight for healthcare programs across Tufts Medicine Oversight and support to Tufts Medicine compounding pharmacy
Requirements:
MD or DO, with Board Certification in Infectious Disease Demonstrated experience in Infection Prevention, Hospital Epidemiology, and healthcare quality and safety initiatives Proven leadership experience within complex healthcare organizations or health systems Experience working collaboratively with diverse physician groups, clinical leaders, and healthcare teams Strong interpersonal, communication, and change management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams Commitment to clinical excellence, education, mentorship, and academic advancement Eligible for medical licensure in the
