Epidemiologist Work Location:
Andrew Johnson Tower, 710 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, TN 37243
Work Type:
Hybrid (On-site presence required at least once per month; additional in-person collaboration as needed)
Work Schedule:
Full-time, Monday-Friday (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM CST)

June 15, 2026 - June 30, 2027 Position Overview The Client is seeking an Epidemiologist to support advanced public health analytics within the Office of Informatics & Analytics. This role focuses on prescription drug surveillance, with an emphasis on expanding analytical capabilities for Tennessee's Controlled Substance Monitoring Database (CSMD), the state's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). The Epidemiologist will analyze prescription, hospitalization, and mortality data to generate actionable insights that support overdose prevention and public health decision-making. Key Responsibilities Analyze prescription drug use, misuse, and overdose trends using CSMD, hospital discharge, and vital statistics data Conduct statistical analyses to identify patterns, hotspots, and risk factors related to overdose Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders Produce focused reports, including analyses related to buprenorphine use Support evaluation of public health interventions such as prescribing guidelines, naloxone distribution, and provider education programs Collaborate with epidemiologists, program staff, healthcare providers, and external partners to translate data into action Create educational materials to support provider outreach and prevention initiatives Contribute to grant writing, research projects, and presentations Ensure compliance with data governance, confidentiality, and HIPAA requirements Required Qualifications Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related field At least 2 years of experience in public health analytics or epidemiology Strong proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (R, SAS, Stata, Python, Tableau) Advanced SQL skills and experience working with relational databases Experience integrating and linking multiple datasets Ability to clearly communicate complex analytical findings to non-technical audiences Knowledge of public health surveillance systems and overdose prevention data Work Environment Hybrid role with periodic in-person collaboration in Nashville, TN Standard weekday schedule with full-time hours Collaborative environment focused on public health surveillance and data-driven decision-making #HC2025
Pay:
$40.00 - $50.00 per hour
