Embracing Service, Inspiring Innovation, Promoting Teamwork, Pursuing Excellence, and Advancing Equity Under general supervision, this position will serve as a premiere epidemiologist in the Bureau of Chronic Disease & Injury Prevention, providing data leadership for internal and external stakeholders as it relates to chronic diseases, associated risk factors, and social determinants of health to ensure appropriate surveillance strategies are developed, implemented, and reported on, promoting a culture of data-driven decisions, and providing strategic planning for internal program funding opportunity as it relates to data analyses and interpretation. Develop infographics, dashboards, and data products to promote healthy living and healthy lifestyles among South Carolinians. Provide epidemiological leadership to internal and external stakeholders working to address chronic diseases and their associated risk factors across South Carolina to include: responding to queries and developing/compiling reports from various data sources; analyzing population health data through a health equity lens in order to identify disparities, including but not limited to age, gender, race, and disability status; and reporting findings to internal and external stakeholders through the most appropriate methods. Provide guidance to junior epidemiologists in the section, including key outcomes and measures to promote success within the bureau and section. Oversee the development and dissemination of chronic disease data products including dashboards, infographics, and posters. Assess data collection feasibility, conduct or coordinate analyses of selected metrics, and work with agency outreach and communication teams to develop and share products with internal and external partners. Support the bureau and section in pursuing and reporting on identified funding opportunities related to chronic diseases, associated risk factors, social determinants of health, and data processes. Act as a subject matter expert in the development of the State Health Assessment and County Health Assessments, providing data expertise related to various chronic diseases and associated risk factors. Assist in community-level data walks. Perform other duties as assigned by agency, branch, bureau, and section leadership.Minimum and Additional Requirements State Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree in Public Health in epidemiology, biostatistics or a closely related field and relevant working experience. A Doctoral degree in epidemiology, or advanced training in applied epidemiology, such as the Public Health Prevention Specialist Program at CDC may substitute for experience. Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.Agency Additional Requirements:
