Job Description

Berkshire Place Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is currently seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Infection Preventionist to join our team in Providence, RI on a 32-hour per week schedule. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinical professional who is passionate about resident safety, regulatory compliance, and promoting best practices in infection prevention and control within a skilled nursing environment. Position Summary The Infection Preventionist is responsible for overseeing the facility's infection prevention and control program, including surveillance, tracking, staff education, outbreak response, and regulatory compliance. This role works closely with nursing leadership and the interdisciplinary team to maintain a safe and healthy environment for residents, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities Lead and maintain the Infection Prevention and Control Program Conduct infection surveillance, monitoring, tracking, and trending Investigate infections, outbreaks, and exposure concerns Implement infection prevention strategies and corrective actions as needed Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, RIDOH, and facility standards Educate and train staff on hand hygiene, PPE, isolation precautions, and infection prevention practices Collaborate with nursing leadership, providers, and department heads on infection control initiatives Support antibiotic stewardship efforts Participate in QAPI and performance improvement activities Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and logs related to infection prevention Qualifications Current RN/Compact in Rhode Island preferred Long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred Infection Prevention experience preferred Infection Prevention certification or formal training is a plus Strong understanding of infection control regulations and best practices Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Schedule Part-Time 32 hours per week Flexible schedule based on facility needs Why Join Berkshire Place?
