TITLE Manager Infection Prevention/Quality

Beaufort Memorial, a not-for-profit hospital founded in 1944 on the banks of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, is licensed for 201 beds (169 acute, 14 rehabilitation and 18 mental health). We are an acute-care hospital, a regional referral center and the largest medical facility between Savannah, Ga., and Charleston, S.C. DESCRIPTION
The Quality Services Manager of Infection Prevention/Quality, under the direction of the Corporate Director of Quality, is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating continuous quality improvement and infection prevention activities across the organization. As a key member of the infection prevention team, the Quality Services Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures, and programs that are designed to prevent and control infection, and reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections. The ideal candidate for this position will be an organized, detail-oriented healthcare professional with a commitment to providing safe, high quality and patient-centered care. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, be able to work independently and collaboratively, and possess knowledge of infection prevention/control and quality improvement principles. This role is expected to apply clinical knowledge and analytical skills to assist the Corporate Director of Quality and hospital leadership to implement changes with a strong focus on improving quality outcomes and results.
Key Responsibilities:
Management and oversight of Infection Prevention and Quality Programs (51%), including: Collects metrics, action plans, gap analyses, reports and monitors quality trends across the organization Analyzes collected metrics and plans, as well as national data/trends and best practices, to identify opportunities for improvement Works to improve patient care, patient safety, and patient outcomes across the organization Works to make policy and process improvements to promote healthcare at the highest level Functions as a subject matter expert and internal consultant to other leaders within the organization. May also serve as a subject matter expert for external matters, as determined by the Corporate Director of Quality Oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Infection Prevention team and function (49%), including: Ensures surveillance of hospital patient populations for evidence of infection and assist in the application of proper interventions Collects and presents quality and infection data, monitors trends, and provides education relevant to the findings Ensures required data are reported to national and state agencies, such as HIDA and Reportable Conditions to DHEC Acts as a subject matter expert and resource regarding infection prevention and control measures Ensures organizational compliance with Infection Prevention standards, policies and procedures (e.g., Hand Hygiene)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
An active South Carolina RN License. A Bachelor's degree in nursing is required, with a Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
Three or more years of experience working in a hospital setting, with at least one year of supervisory/management experience. Any commensurate experience that totals at least three years in a hospital setting may be accepted in lieu of one year of supervisory/management experience. Additionally, three or more years of experience in infection control and/or quality preferred. Strong knowledge of national and state infection prevention/quality standards (including but not limited to standards defined by CMS, DHEC, Joint Commission, CDC, APIC, OSHA). Current knowledge of epidemiological principles and infectious diseases. Current knowledge of performance improvement principles with the ability to conduct complex problem-solving to make informed decisions and recommendations. Adept at collaborative problem solving and consensus building. Strong written and verbal communication skills, leadership, facilitation, and time management skills. Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to manage committees, staffing responsibilities and individual team projects. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as, in a collaborative, team environment. Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.
Certifications/Licenses:
Licensed as a registered nurse in South Carolina required and Certification in Infection Control upon hire or within 2 years of hire.
