Infection Preventionist
HENDRICK MEDICAL CENTER BROWNWOOD
BW Infection Prevention Full Time Day Shift 8-5 W-F
JOB SUMMARY
In conjunction with the Infection Prevention team develops, coordinates, implements, maintains, and supervises the infection prevention program under the direction of the Infection Prevention Manager and Patient Safety Director to prevent and/or control infection among patients and employees and to comply with requirements of government agencies such as: The Joint Commission (TJC), Center for Disease Control (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education BS in Nursing, with current license to practice in state OR Graduate of accredited University (with a major in Microbiology, Medical Technology, or Epidemiology) who has acquired specialized training in infection control. Minimum Work Experience Minimum of three years experience working with infection prevention methods Required Licenses/Certifications Registered Nurse Certification from Board of Infection prevention within 3 years of hire, and maintenance of certification Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Strong computer skills are essential Knowledge of research and analytic techniques Ability to define study methodology manages projects and analyzes findings Demonstrated ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data Prepares cogent reports facilitating decision making. Facilitates innovation and is able to motivate groups towards solutions Proven leadership and team building skills, creative thinking, and problem solving skills; ability to take calculated risks and to manage multiple and competing priorities Ability to lead professional and nonprofessional staff Superb verbal and written communication skills Outstanding interpersonal skills, requisite poise, judgment, and trustworthiness to present the PI department to internal and external groups Experience in project management and performance improvement activities Knowledge of TJC, TDSHS, and other regulatory standards and ability to interpret the standards Designated Driver No OSHA Category 1 - High Risk
