Non-Exempt This position is eligible for internship requirements; however, Crispy Cones is seeking a long-term team member who can transition into and remain in the role on a permanent basis following the internship period. Job Summary Crispy Cones is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented R&D Specialist to support the development, testing, and launch of new products and menu innovations. This role will assist with product cuttings, recipe documentation, sample organization, and launch preparation while ensuring all testing procedures and records are maintained accurately. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, and passionate about food innovation, quality, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Execute ingredient and full product cuttings according to established testing procedures and SOPs. Evaluate products based on flavor, texture, visual appeal, consistency, and operational feasibility. Record and communicate pass, retest, or reject outcomes from testing sessions. Document recipes, ingredient costs, preparation methods, and testing notes accurately. Capture photos and videos of products and preparation processes for internal review and documentation. Maintain organized and up-to-date R&D records, files, and testing materials. Finalize recipes and product builds following approval from leadership. Assist in creating training documentation and standardized build procedures for approved products. Prepare ingredients and product samples for internal tastings and testing sessions. Support pre-launch execution and rollout readiness for new menu items or promotions. Participate in retesting and product adjustments based on launch feedback and operational performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. Perform additional tasks or special projects as assigned by the supervisor. Knowledge Basic understanding of food preparation, recipe testing, and product evaluation. Familiarity with food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization practices. Knowledge of standard office software such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office. Understanding of documentation and record-keeping processes. Skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records. Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Creative problem-solving and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment. Abilities Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Ability to maintain consistency and accuracy during testing and documentation. Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and feedback. Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with food preparation and testing activities. Ability to proactively support product development and operational readiness initiatives. Minimum Qualifications Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, or a related field preferred. Interest in food innovation, product development, or restaurant operations. Previous kitchen, restaurant, or food service experience preferred but not required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Basic proficiency with spreadsheets, documents, and digital organization tools.
