Job Description

These positions are located in the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA): Institute of Youth, Family, and Community (IYFC ); Institute of Food Production and Sustainability (IFPS); Institute of Food Safety and Nutrition (IFSN); Institute of Bioenergy, Climate, and Environment (IBCE) As a National Program Leaders (NPL) you will administer research, education, and extension programs that address national agriculture priorities. Qualifications:
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Time in
Grade :
Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet the time in grade requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
Basic Education Requirements:
Master's Degree:
Biological Sciences, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Specialized Experience:
Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. GS-13: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level; or its non-Federal equivalent that included experience coordinating and analyzing data for the development of policies to implement programs to enhance safety and agricultural science; collaborate with various stakeholders to gather information on the performance of food and agriculture programs; and assist in conducting program evaluations to improve the administration and efficacy of food and safety and agricultural science. GS-14: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level; or its non-Federal equivalent that included experience coordinating and analyzing data for the development of policies to implement programs to enhance safety and agricultural science; collaborate with various stakeholders to gather information on the performance of food and agriculture programs; and assist in conducting program evaluations to improve the administration and efficacy of food and safety and agricultural science. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
