Job Description

The Montana State University Extension Water Quality (MSUEWQ) program works to address the broad spectrum of water quality education and information needs of a diverse audience throughout Montana and its neighboring states through research, education, and outreach. Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate group meetings. Co-lead lab activities. Co-lead field activities. Assist with grant writing. Assist with administration of current and forthcoming grant awards. Onboard new employees. Mentor graduate students. Act as lead and supporting author on peer reviewed journal articles. General lab management activities as they arise. Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills High attention to detail and organizational skills. A masters of science degree in environmental science. Experience with water quality monitoring.
Strong quantitative skills using:
Excel, R statistical software, Python, ArcGIS, and Hydrus 1D. Experience conducting on farm research in partnership with agricultural producers. Demonstration of capabilities to present scientific information to a broad range of audiences. Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Experience with research in irrigated agriculture. Experience with public engagement and community education. Experience with grant writing. Experience processing samples in an analytical lab setting. The Successful Candidate Will The successful applicant should be able to lead field instrumentation for water and nitrogen flux through cultivated soils as well as conduct data wrangling and soil water flux modeling in Hydrus 1D.
