job summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Raw Material Quality & Compliance Specialist to serve as a vital guardian of food safety and compliance at our Bridgewater, NJ facility. Operating in a dynamic hybrid model, you will play a pivotal role in embedding Quality and Compliance by Design into our development processes. Your primary focus will be creating and revising comprehensive raw material specifications-with a sharp lens on microbiological and chemical contaminants-while performing robust recipe risk assessments. Bridgewater, New Jersey job type: Contract salary: $30.00 - 32.06 per hour work hours: 9 to 5 education: High School responsibilities:
Specification Management:
Create, review, and update raw material specifications, establishing strict parameters for microbiological limits and chemical contaminants.
Risk Assessment & Food Safety:
Perform comprehensive Food Safety Assessments and develop pHACCP and rMMS protocols for new product and technology projects; provide execution support to manufacturing facilities during implementation.
Compliance & Auditing:
Ensure full compliance with internal management systems, global quality standards, and regulatory requirements; actively support preparation for ISO/NMS certifications and external audits by regulatory bodies (e.g., FDA, USDA).
Technical Assistance:
Provide expert technical guidance and troubleshooting support to quality functions within factories, application groups, and cross-functional R D teams.
Training & Knowledge Transfer:
Drive the continuous development of a quality-first culture by providing training on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and quality standards, ensuring seamless technical knowledge transfer to operations and plant personnel.
qualifications:
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a closely related scientific discipline.
Technical Expertise:
Strong foundational background and knowledge in food microbiology and/or toxicology.
Industry Experience:
Proven operational experience within the food, beverage, or related life sciences industry, specifically working within Quality Assurance, R D, or manufacturing environments.
Core Competencies:
• Direct experience developing and managing raw material/ingredient specifications. Active hands-on experience as a HACCP team member. Demonstrated familiarity with "Quality by Design" principles. Proven ability to participate effectively in audit teams, change management initiatives, or continuous improvement projects.
Preferred:
Practical experience working with ISO 9001 and
FSSC 22000
certification standards. Experience collaborating within a matrixed R D or Product Technology Center environment. Established track record of building effective peer networks across multiple manufacturing sites or market regions.
