Food Technologist - Research & Development

They will also need to present new items to a cross functional team for feedback and project direction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Creating bench top samples for internal review. Recording lot information on raw materials used in the lab. Heating samples and setting up sensory panels. Sourcing raw materials from the plant Assisting other R&D team members with plant trials. Evaluating raw materials submitted by new vendors. Carrying out other support functions and activities as required.
SUCCESS CRITERIA
Safety/GMP/Food Safety/Quality policies followed. Attendance requirements met. Accurately measuring ingredients and following recipe procedures. Understand functional ingredient applications. Ability to develop a product that meets customer criteria within cost constraints.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Food Science, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in food manufacturing. 3-5 years of experience in product development. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to read and interpret food formulations and directions. Knowledge of GMP's, USDA, and OSHA regulations and BRC requirements. Skill in using a personal computer and various software applications. Skill in being a self-starter. Ability to work in a team environment. Reaching, and lifting 50 lbs. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. Ability to work in cold, humid environments with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees. Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels Exposure to slippery and wet conditions This position is an onsite position.
