Job Description

Peerless Midwest, Inc., a regional full-service water supply contractor with headquarters in Mishawaka, Indiana, provides hydrogeologic, drilling, well and pump, and system design/control services to public water supply, industrial, and agricultural clients located throughout the Midwest. We are looking for an entry level hydrogeologist to join our Mishawaka, Indiana headquarters office. In this role, you will work with our team of hydrogeologists, project managers, and technical staff to complete hydrogeological components of multi-disciplinary environmental studies, on a variety of projects. The projects may include aquifer performance testing and analysis; well field development and safe yield modeling; regulatory permitting for new and existing public water supply systems; wellhead protection management and contingency plan development; and analytical and numerical groundwater modeling projects primarily supporting wellhead protection delineations. What you will experience in this role: Project coordination - carry out hydrogeological field tasks as the need arises, including communication with field crews, customers, and project managers. Prepare and submit well permit applications, i.e. local and state drilling and construction permits, coordination with local authorities. Groundwater sampling including SOCs, VOCs, and IOCs. Coordination with laboratories to deliver/ pick up bottles, drop off samples, fill out chain-of-custody forms, and interpretation of test results. Field work involving borehole drilling and cuttings description, down-well video surveys, geophysical logging of boreholes, mud rotary, cable tool, hollow-stem auger and sonic drilling oversight, aquifer performance test design and oversight, and groundwater level monitoring, groundwater sampling, and short and long-term groundwater monitoring projects. Travel will be required in this position. The successful person must be prepared to undertake field assignments. Report Preparation - data processing, evaluation, and interpretation, using a variety of software tools including: Microsoft Word and Excel, ArcMap, Win-Situ, GFLOW and MODFLOW, GeoGraphics, and Aqtesolv. What you will bring to this role: B.S. or M.S. in Geology or Hydrogeology 0 to 3 years of experience in hydrogeology/geoscience Valid driver's license (chauffer's license preferred) with a good driving record Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and budgets, and prioritize projects Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of site environments Strong analytical and technical writing skills Knowledgeable in the use and operation of various environmental field equipment, water level meters, data loggers, pumps and flow meters, etc. a plus Experience with any above-mentioned software a plus Strong commitment to safety 40 - hour
