Summary of Job Duties:

As a bench technologist in Microbiology, this person is responsible for processing, evaluating patient specimens, performing tests to identify microorganisms or antigens according to written procedures and perform susceptibilities. This person will also record and evaluate daily, weekly, and monthly QC in their assigned areas for further review by the supervisor. This position requires one to maintain safe work practices, follow all regulatory requirements and engage supervisor, manager, or director as appropriate.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology or an ASCP approved discipline (30 semester hours in biology and chemistry, which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the Bachelor's). ASCP or equivalentGeneralist Clinical Laboratory Scientist certification (CLS), Medical Technologist (MT) certification or Microbiologycertification passed within 12 months of hire or 12 months of eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Technology. 1 year of clinical laboratory experience. Current ASCP or equivalent certification. Knowledge of Clinical Microbiology testing procedure.
