Job Description

Description The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale University School of Medicine is seeking to appoint an Associate Research Scientist. This position primarily carries out activities directed towards the production of PET radiotracers for use in human research studies. This involves the daily production of radiotracers either by the setting up and operation of GE Tracerlab synthesis modules or by manual synthesis in lead-lined hoods (hot cells) using manipulators.
Duties include:
Process validation of new radiotracers with the guidance of either the lead production chemist or the director of radiochemistry. The day-to-day maintenance of the synthesis modules and be able to assist the GE service engineer with any major service. Ordering and monitoring the inventory of production materials. The daily recording of laboratory operational parameters. Participate in the investigation and prevention of anomalous events. May be cross trained in QC analysis and cyclotron operation. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. or an MD/Ph.D. degree and a background in chemistry or related science is preferrable. Personal attributes must include an attention to detail and the ability to apply logic in root cause analyses and to propose corrective actions. Must be available to begin the workday at 7:00 am. Work in the PET laboratory includes monitored, controlled and limited exposure to radiation. Work will require demonstration of the ability to master aseptic technique.
