Job Description

Nemours is seeking a Respiratory Research Specialist to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, DE. The Respiratory Research Specialist provides leadership, assistance, support and education in the development, implementation, evaluation, enhancement, and maintenance of a comprehensive pediatric respiratory research program which would enhance the outcomes of the pediatric and respiratory departments and establish Nemours as a leader in the research field. Develops pediatric research goals in collaboration with members of the Departments of Respiratory Care, Pediatrics and Research, clinical staff, physicians, members of other health care disciplines, and patients/families. Essential Functions 1. Design and Conduct Research Studies a. Develop and implement clinical, translational, or scientific research protocols in collaboration with respiratory therapy, pediatrics, and research departments. 2. Data Collection and Analysis a. Collect, organize, and analyze clinical data using appropriate statistical methods to support evidence-based practice and inform future research. 3. Manuscript and Abstract Preparation a. Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, and posters for submission to peer-reviewed journals and presentation at national and international conferences. 4. Grant Development and Funding Acquisition a. Identify funding opportunities and both lead and assist in writing and submitting grant proposals to support respiratory and pediatric research projects both as PI and as Co-I. 5. Protocol Compliance and IRB Coordination a. Ensure all research activities comply with institutional, federal, and ethical guidelines, including coordination with the Institutional Review Board (IRB). 6. Education and Mentorship a. Provide education and mentorship to clinical staff on research methodology, evidence-based practice, and integration of research into clinical care. 7. Innovation and Procedure Development a. Develop and refine experimental procedures and protocols to advance respiratory therapy techniques and patient outcomes. 8. Interdisciplinary Collaboration a. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, nurses, other allied health professionals, and families to align research goals with clinical needs and improve patient care. 9. Presentation and Dissemination a. Present research findings to internal stakeholders and external audiences to promote Nemours' leadership in pediatric respiratory research. 10. Maintain Research Equipment and Supplies a. Maintain and calibrate research-related equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability in experimental procedures. 11. Attend and participate appropriately in department research meetings and activities. 12. Adhere to attendance policies as outlined by Nemours. 13. Demonstrates close attention to detail and provides immediate follow-up on concerns or issues. 14. Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA regulations and Nemours policies. 15. Participate in hospital-wide research initiatives, journal clubs, or interdisciplinary research forums to foster a culture of inquiry and innovation. 16. Collaborate on QI initiatives that intersect with research findings or data trends, especially those impacting respiratory therapy outcomes.
