Job Description

Job Summary:
As a Certifying Scientist in Toxicology, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing toxicology laboratory operations, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of toxicology test results, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Your expertise in toxicology testing methodologies, quality control procedures, and interpretation of test results will be essential in providing accurate and timely information for patient care and clinical decision-making.
Job Description:
1. Oversee and manage the toxicology laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. 2. Review and interpret complex toxicology test results, including drug screens, therapeutic drug monitoring, and other toxicology assays. 3. Serve as the final authority on the accuracy and validity of toxicology test results before releasing them to healthcare providers. 4. Provide technical expertise and guidance to laboratory staff on toxicology testing methodologies, instrumentation, and quality control procedures. 5. Develop and validate new toxicology test methods in collaboration with laboratory management and staff. 6. Monitor and evaluate the performance of toxicology assays, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement corrective actions as needed. 7. Maintain comprehensive documentation of toxicology testing processes, results, and quality control measures. 8. Collaborate with healthcare providers, researchers, and other stakeholders to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of toxicology test results. 9. Stay current with advances in toxicology science, regulations, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Chemistry, Toxicology, or a related field. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent certification in toxicology is preferred. Several years of experience working in a clinical toxicology laboratory, with progressive responsibilities and a strong background in toxicology testing. In-depth knowledge of toxicology testing methodologies, instrumentation, and quality control practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex toxicology test results. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Leadership experience, with the ability to train and mentor laboratory staff in toxicology testing procedures. Familiarity with regulatory requirements governing toxicology testing, such as CLIA, CAP, and state regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
