JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for collecting and processing patient samples and performing clinical laboratory analysis at all complexity levels for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Develops, maintains and directs service delivery of a major laboratory section or shift. Requires providing services to one or more age populations, including neonate through geriatric, in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. Requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values while supporting the strategic plan, goals, and direction of the Performance Improvement Process / Patient Safety Plan at Blessing Hospital. Must be able to perform all duties listed in CLIA (CLIA Title 42 / Chapter IV/ Subchapter G / Part 493/ Subpart M) as a Technical Consultant for Moderate Complexity Testing, Technical Supervisor for High Complexity Testing and General Supervisor for High Complexity Testing. Position requires availability to work all shifts in order to meet needs of the department.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in a chemical, physical, biological science or medical technology or any bachelor's degree with transcripts demonstrating equivalent hours at an accredited institution(s) in the major sciences as deemed equivalent by College of American Pathologists (CAP). At least 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist or similar position (one year of experience must include high complexity testing in chemistry or microbiology) Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, International Medical Laboratory Scientist, or International Medical Technologist by ASCP or equivalent (AMT, AAB, ASCP(i) or CSMLS).
