James | Martha Morehouse Medical Plaza Lab Scope of Position The Clinical Lab Professional 2 will provide primary support to the Martha Morehouse Laboratory, and secondary support to ancillary James' laboratory locations as needed. The Martha Morehouse Laboratory provides comprehensive, time sensitive laboratory services to patients with a variety of diagnoses or admission/discharge criteria. The Martha Morehouse laboratory staff performs testing on patient specimens utilizing chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation analyzers. The laboratory provides training for residents, new staff and medical technology students. The laboratory is staffed 10 hours per day, Monday through Friday with hours varying according to workflow and holidays. Position Summary The Clinical Lab Professional 2 performs routine automated and manual testing procedures, dispatches specimens to appropriate testing locations. The Clinical Lab Professional 2 will perform test requisition entry, ensures accuracy of test results, documents quality control, quality assurance and preventative maintenance on instrumentation. They will also verify reports, test request, accuracy and quality of specimens collected and trains others in these techniques. The Clinical Lab Professional 2 handles phone inquiries regarding patient results, specimen collection and testing frequency. The Clinical Lab Professional 2 works under the direction of the lab manager and lead technologist(s).
Minimum Qualifications For Hire:
Bachelor's degree in a clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution OR Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology AND Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science. 0 years of relevant experience required. ASCP certification required within 1 year of hire.
Ongoing:
Meets mandatory hospital education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions
