Senior Research Specialist Tulane University - 4.0 New Orleans, LA Job Details Part-time 9 hours ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree Managing projects Delegation Full Job Description Manage day-to-day operations and provide comprehensive supervision of the Department of Surgery's Plastic Surgery and General Education's research program, its data personnel, and specialized analytical infrastructures. Process and manage all aspects of translational, clinical, basic science, and surgical education research projects contracted through the department and the IMPRESS Program. This position acts as the central operational hub—bridging the gap between attending faculty, plastic surgery fellows, general surgery residents, medical students, and analytical personnel. The Manager is responsible for scheduling multi research timelines, managing independent data operations, maintaining programmatic inventories (software licenses, secure data shares), purchasing programmatic assets, and planning comprehensive records for multiple projects and tasks. Additionally, this role maintains strict institutional compliance with the Institutional Review Board (IRB), ensuring total adherence to all university, federal, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) data security and confidentiality guidelines.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's of Science At least two to five years of progressive project management, clinical, or laboratory research experience, preferably within an academic medical center or surgical subspecialty environment
Preferred Experience:
Master's degree in a scientific, public health, or clinical research discipline.
Analytical & Methodological Expertise:
Profound understanding of surgical research contexts and experimental methodologies (e.g., quantitative data modeling, qualitative thematic coding, and statistical analysis)
Personnel Supervision & Training:
Proven ability to supervise research personnel, including coaching, counseling, delegating work, and training multi-teams on database, research, and safety protocols.
Data Governance & Automation:
Mastery in managing secure, HIPAA-compliant data repositories (REDCap, Qualtrics, Box), executing system migrations, and utilizing programming (Python, SQL) or statistical software (R, Stata, SPSS).
Core Administrative Skills:
Expert organizational skills with the ability to manage multi-project budgets, track spending, calculate recharge/service rates, coordinate procurement, and interface with industry representatives .
SPECIAL REQUIRED ABILITY FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES
Ability to complete and pass successfully the required occupational health screening referenced in the University" Animal Handler Health Surveillance Program on an annual basis.
