Job Requirements Frederick, MD Secret Polygraph Unspecified Career Level not specified Salary not specified Join Premium to unlock estimated salaries Job Description Piper Companies is seeking a Research Scientist I - Virology & Immunology to join a cutting-edge government-focused research program within the infectious disease and biodefense space for an onsite 6-month contract to hire engagement based out of Frederick, MD . The Research Scientist I - Virology & Immunology will contribute to critical laboratory studies supporting vaccine, therapeutic, and antiviral development in a highly regulated and fast-paced environment. Responsibilities for the Research Scientist I - Virology & Immunology include:
- Support preclinical research studies by executing laboratory experiments across various biosafety levels, contributing to infectious disease research efforts.
- Conduct downstream analysis using a variety of immunological and molecular assays to evaluate viral behavior and immune responses.
- Develop and maintain complex in vitro cell models, including advanced systems such as organoids and other physiologically relevant platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional scientific teams to analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with strict laboratory safety protocols, maintain inventory of biological materials, and assist with regulatory and operational requirements. Qualifications for the Research Scientist I - Virology & Immunology include:
- Master's degree in a life sciences discipline such as virology, microbiology, immunology, or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on laboratory experience following completion of an advanced degree.
- Demonstrated experience performing virology-related studies, including immune-based assays and molecular lab techniques.
- Strong background working with advanced cell culture techniques and complex experimental systems.
