Sr Scientist/Health Sciences Requisition ID req36594 Working Title Sr Scientist/Health Sciences Position Grade 16 Position Summary Directs and manages major, integrated research programs related to Alzheimer's disease clinical trials. Participates in establishing overall study parameters, defines investigational topics, and defines research concepts, methods, and procedures. Coordinates with key entities and collaborators, writes integrated regulatory protocols, study reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct and analyze biomedical research Data collection, analysis, interpretation, and help publish papers and present findings Assist with grant writing Collaborate with and mentor trainees Follow research and safety regulations Manage daily operations of clinical studies Recruit, consent, and schedule participants Collect and maintain study data Ensure regulatory and IRB compliance Coordinate communication among study teams Specific to the current role Coordinating with the outside entities (TheraVac Biologics, investors, Medigen, FDA, etc.) to get the GMP-grade vaccine manufactured, GLP tox studies conducted, and final FDA approval. Work with UNM entities (IRB, IBC, Dr. Janice Knoefel - Neurologist; CTSC clinical coordinators, nurse practitioner, investigational drug pharmacy) to create a participant registry and initiate the phase I study. Performing experiments (e.g., titer analyses, CBC-Blood biochemistry with Tricore, target engagement studies via immunohistochemistry), data collection and entering into REDCap, analyses and interpretation, presentations at the group meetings, local and national conferences, and writing manuscripts. Training graduate students and other trainees on different laboratory techniques. Assisting with other lab activities - scheduling meetings, coordinating with other trainees and staff in the lab to make sure all projects are running smoothly. Conditions of Employment For individual positions in which driving is a job requirement, a valid NM driver's license and valid UNM driver's permit will be required. Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Minimum Qualifications Doctorate degree; at least 5 years of post-doctorate experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
