Job Description

PostDoc Associate. Dept of Immunology Med-Immunology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - ( 26003291 ) A Postdoctoral Associate Position who will be studying new mechanisms and pathways of the immune system, translating discoveries to improve human health by combating disease, enhancing vaccination, controlling cancer and autoimmunity, and incorporating the development of cutting-edge technologies, is desired at the University of Pittsburgh, within the Department of Immunology. The Department of Immunology is seeking competitive candidates who have recently earned a PhD and possess effective written and verbal English communication skills, in addition to outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work as part of a team. Experience in either rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and type-1 diabetes associated when immune responses are directed at the body's own cells and tissues, are preferred. Candidates will work directly alongside the assigned Department Faculty and will develop skills in a wide variety of techniques as described above. This position will perform experiments in the lab performing analysis of the molecular mechanisms underlying the autoimmune response and the development of novel therapeutic and preventative measures. This position will also assist with ordering lab supplies via Panther Express, and assist with the training of Graduate Student Researchers, Research Technicians and Pitt Undergraduate Student Workers with their own research projects. This position will attend national and international research seminars to present their research project results and findings. The candidate will also develop several career-related skill sets, including manuscript preparation, oral presentations, and grant writing.
Qualifications:
Candidate must have earned a PhD/MD Degree in the field of Biology or a related field. The salary is commensurate with experience and is based on current NIH guidelines.
