SUMMARY:
Summary:
Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, performsscientific investigative research in areas related to patient care, supervisesactivities of subordinate professional and support staff assigned to one or moreresearch projects. Selects, orients, schedules, assigns work and evaluates performance of subordinate research staff. Ensures implementation of approved research program, adherence to research protocols, development and maintenance of study records. Researches literature in the field, participates in the design of experimental protocols and develops new procedures to carry out established research objectives. Conducts experiments using in vitro and or in vivo techniques; collects and analyzes data using statistical methodology. An emphasis on histological and immunohistochemical techniques is preferred. May assist in writing presentations andpapers for publication based on the research performed. RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
Conducts experiments according to established protocols and research methodology using in vivo techniques on animal and/or human serum, and/or in vitro techniquesincluding molecular biology, mammalian cell culture and emphasis on histology techniques.
Participates in the design of experimental protocols to achieve the scientific objectives of the research project.
Develops research methodologies within the parameters of experimental protocols andresearch objectives to allow quantitative and qualitative evaluation andinterpretation of data obtained.
Gathers, tabulates, graphs, develops explanatory charts, and analyzes data usingstatistical methodology.
Participates in the interpretation of the results of experiences through conferences withsupervisor and other researchers to review data compared to hypothesis andresearch methodology in instances of inexplicable data.
Reviews all literature pertaining to research being conducted in the scientific area ofinterest.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in the scientific field off the research being conducted.
Requires a working knowledge of statistics, computer programming and research methodology.
Requires a professional level of knowledge of the scientific field germane to the research being conducted.
EXPERIENCE
Three to six months related experience.
Works in a laboratory environment with possible exposure to human and animal serum, chemical reagents, animal subjects and radioactive materials.
