Overview This role can be based out of our HQ in Chicago, IL or Plano, TX The MLS is a fieldbased Medical Affairs role responsible for nonpromotional, evidencebased scientific exchange between PepsiCo and the external medical and scientific community. Operating within the unbranded, sciencecentric Medical Affairs model, the MSL serves as a trusted scientific interlocutor with healthcare professionals, researchers, and academic institutions. The role supports scientific education, insight generation, and evidence translation, while operating under defined quality, compliance, and transparency frameworks. The Scientific Liaison does not sell or promote products. All activities are conducted in alignment with Medical Affairs strategy, Medical Governance and Compliance, and applicable regulatory and Sunshine Act requirements. Responsibilities Scientific Exchange & Education
  • Engage in nonpromotional, evidencebased scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals, researchers, and scientific stakeholders.
  • Communicate current scientific evidence related to hydration, nutrition, physiology, and related standards of care.
  • Support scientific education initiatives aligned with Medical Affairs objectives and approved materials. Insight Generation
  • Gather and synthesize scientific and clinical insights from the field to inform Medical Affairs strategy, evidence generation, and research prioritization.
  • Provide structured feedback to Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, and R D teams.
  • Identify emerging scientific trends, unmet needs, and external research opportunities. Support of Evidence Generation
  • Support clinical studies, realworld evidence initiatives, and observational research through site engagement and scientific collaboration.
  • Facilitate compliant interactions with external investigators and academic partners.
  • Operate within approved protocols and quality standards defined by Medical Affairs and Medical Governance and Compliance. Compliance, Quality & Transparency
  • Execute all external engagements in compliance with Medical Affairs SOPs, Medical Governance and Compliance standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to Sunshine Act / transparency reporting, fair market value (FMV) standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Participate in training and quality reviews to maintain auditready practices.
  • CrossFunctional Collaboration
  • Partner with Medical Affairs leadership, Medical Governance and Compliance , Clinical Operations, Policy, and Legal teams as required.
  • Support internal education by sharing field insights and scientific learnings.
  • Maintain clear separation from branded marketing and sales activities
Compensation and Benefits:
  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $123,500
  • $206,750.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 15% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in life sciences, nutrition, physiology, pharmacy, medicine, or related scientific field.
  • 9+ years industry experience required in Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices, CPG, Nutrition, or related industry
  • At least 5 years experience in a Medical Science Liaison (or parallel) position required
  • Experience in Medical Affairs, scientific engagement, clinical education, or researchfacing roles.
  • Strong understanding of scientific literature, evidence evaluation, and data interpretation.
  • Familiarity with regulated scientific environments and compliance expectations.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and credibly to external experts.
  • Scientific credibility and intellectual curiosity
  • Strong ethical standards and compliance mindset
  • Excellent communication and relationshipbuilding skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization
