Medical Laboratory Scientist

  • Full Time Mountain West Medical Center is nestled at the base of the Oquirrh Mountains in Tooele, Utah.
This award winning healthcare facility and clinics has expert staff serving the largest county in Utah. We diligently pursue our mission to be the health resource of choice for the community and provide a place where doctors want to practice, people want to work, and the community wants to come for healthcare services. Currently we are looking to fill the vital role of Medical Laboratory Scientist.
JOB SUMMARY
Operates as a generalist performing manual and automated laboratory testing including hematology, chemistry, blood bank, urinalysis, coagulation, immunology/serology, and microbiology. Maintains and documents functioning of laboratory equipment and instruments. Performs and documents quality control according to policies and procedures. Uses critical thinking skills to ensure efficiency and assist with troubleshooting. Is an integral part of the patient care team. This position requires the ability to work independently in a hospital setting. Must be able to adhere to the attendance policy and have good attendance history. The Ability to multi-task and prioritize to handle stressful situations is required for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant must have Generalist skills including Blood Bank. Requires Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/MLS with ASCP certification as an MT or MLS. Associate Degree MLT(ASCP) will be considered. CPR/BLS Certification required 30 days after employment. 1 year experience preferred (2 years for MLT); new MT/MLS grads considered.
