  • Avangrid Job Summary Senior Engineer/Meteorologist, Wind Energy Avangrid Renewables, LLC is seeking a Senior Engineer/Meteorologist.
The role is in a high-energy, dynamic environment where accurate energy production estimates are critical to the success of the business and where excellent communication and organizational skills, continuous improvement contributions, and strategic initiative are recognized and rewarded. This position, ideally located in Portland, Oregon, reports to the Senior Manager, Energy Resources & Meteorology. Key Responsibilities Conduct pre-construction wind resource and energy modeling assessments that adhere to company guidelines and industry best-practices. Design meteorological monitoring campaigns utilizing towers, remote sensing devices, and monitoring stations to secure high quality data necessary to conduct accurate wind resource and energy production assessments. Design well-informed wind farm turbine layouts optimized for energy capture, compliant with design standards as well as constructability, environmental considerations of sound and site constraints. Conduct field visits and evaluate suitability of prospective turbine sites and identify representative locations for measurement equipment for accurate wind assessment and modeling. Develop new methodologies and software tools to improve quantification of wind resource assessments. Support the IE reporting process, including communication with the IE, with internal and external subject matter experts, and the lender. Attend and participate in relevant industry conferences and committees Prepare internal site suitability analyses and critically review and provide comments on site suitability reports supplied by turbine manufactures. Required Qualifications Excellent organization skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively in a timely manner with a multi-discipline team of personnel. Ability to meet deadlines, rapidly adapt to changing priorities, and solve problems effectively and collaboratively. Approximately 15% domestic and international travel expected
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Meteorology, Engineering, Statistics, Physics, Aeronautics, Atmospheric Sciences, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years of industry-relevant experience. Proficiency in Openwind, Windographer and other related industry standard wind modeling tools Preferred Qualifications Solar resource assessment and PV modeling experience BESS experience Ability to create user-friendly, GUI-based data analysis tools and/or proficiency with any of the following programing languages: Matlab, R, Python, SQL, Visual Basic (Microsoft Excel). #LI-Onsite #LI-VF1
