Position Overview The Research Associate, Microbiology will play a key role in expanding and maintaining the company's microbial strain collection in support of microbiome-based therapeutic development. This position involves the isolation, cultivation, characterization, and preservation of microbial strains derived from human and environmental samples, with emphasis on anaerobic organisms. The role requires excellent sterile technique, strong microbiological intuition, and the ability to execute reproducible microbial isolations from complex samples. The successful candidate will work closely with a small, highly collaborative research team and contribute to foundational microbiology workflows that support downstream research and development efforts. Primary Responsibilities Microbial Isolation & Culturing Strain Collection Expansion Media & Reagent Preparation Molecular Biology Support Documentation & Lab Operations Required Qualifications BS or MS in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biology, or a related field Ideally 2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience Demonstrated excellence in sterile technique Strong proficiency in core microbiology techniques, including: Working with an anaerobic chamber (Coy) Manual colony picking Streaking techniques Microbial culture handling Working knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as PCR and DNA isolation Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with anaerobic microbiology, including isolations and culturing Experience working with complex microbial communities Familiarity with microbial strain collections, biobanking, or cryopreservation Experience handling human-derived or environmental samples Success in This Role Looks Like Reliable, high-quality microbial isolations from complex samples Consistent application of excellent sterile technique Well-organized strain documentation and traceability Positive collaboration with teammates in a fast-paced research environment Compensation The base salary range reflects our current estimate for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as job‑related skills, relevant experience, education or training, internal equity, and market conditions. This position is also eligible for equity compensation and a benefits package. Per Year Salary Range $60,000 — $75,000
