Job Description

Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Scientist I for execution of projects involving rodent-based viral infection models. Emphasis will be on defining immunological mechanisms of protection, viral evasion of host defenses and on the pre-clinical development of novel vaccines and therapeutic strategies. Responsible for research and development; assisting in the oversight and direction of other scientific and technical staff; drafting of text for manuscripts and grant proposals; formulating and testing novel hypotheses. The successful applicant will have a proven track record of successful experimental design and execution, impactful peer-reviewed publications and supervisory experience. This position will be in support of Microbiology and Immunology, at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences under the direction of Dr. Brian Schaefer. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
