As a Senior Microbiologist, you'll work directly with development teams at pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies to advance their products through sterilization science. This is a hands-on technical role with real ownership: from early-stage compatibility testing through successful full validation, you'll be a key scientific partner for our customers. What You'll Do Lead and execute customer sterilization studies , including material and functional compatibility testing with the NO₂ process, sterility demonstration within products and loads, product ingress and residuals measurement, and sterilization cycle development. Drive sterilization validation programs using ISO 14937, supporting customers from process definition, qualifications and validation execution and documentation. Own customer-facing deliverables — gather and analyze data, prepare technical reports, data summaries, and presentations that communicate results clearly and build client confidence. Mentor junior scientists , leading hands-on training in the microbiology lab and serving as a technical resource for new hires and developing staff. Apply Good Documentation Practices in all data entry, laboratory notebook documentation, protocol execution and completion of batch records. Perform and peer-review core laboratory operations , including NO2 residuals assay execution, equipment calibration and qualification, sterile solution and reagent preparation, and growth media evaluation. Champion lab safety and compliance , following all applicable company policies, ISO 13485 Quality system, and federal, state, and local regulations for health, safety, and environmental standards. Qualifications We're looking for scientists with a strong lab foundation and the drive to take ownership. Candidates from pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, contract lab, or adjacent industries are all encouraged to apply. Education Bachelor's degree in biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field preferred. Experience At least 6 years of experience in regulated laboratory environment (GLP, GMP, or equivalent) from pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, contract lab, or other related industries are preferred. Hands-on experience with sterilization validation or development (ISO 14937, ISO 11135, ISO 11137, or similar standards) a plus. Skills & Competencies Ability to read, understand, and follow written laboratory procedures and standard operating procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills — you'll be translating complex data into clear technical documents and interacting directly with customers. Strong interpersonal skills; a collaborative team player who is equally comfortable presenting to clients and mentoring junior colleagues. Highly organized, goal-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively in a project-driven environment. Self-motivated and self-directed, with the initiative to work independently when needed. Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
