Job Description

Job Title:
Microbiologist Job Description The Microbiologist will conduct routine microbiological testing and analysis for water, bulk pharmaceutical chemicals, and drug products. Responsibilities include collecting samples, preparing standards/controls, media, and sample solutions, and maintaining appropriate records. Responsibilities Collect purified water samples from various USP Purified Water Loops used to manufacture or test drug products. Perform microbiological testing on water, bulk pharmaceutical chemicals, drug products, and components, as well as finished products. Conduct method suitability testing on finished products using traditional methods according to procedures, document results, and report appropriately. Prepare media used in the microbiological testing of bulk pharmaceutical chemicals, drug products, and components. Analyze and read microbiological test results while ensuring proper data integrity and adherence to GLP/GMP principles. Perform growth promotion testing for purchased and prepared media. Sample raw materials and/or finished products for microbial testing. Prepare laboratory investigation reports, excursions, and/or non-conformance evaluations. Collect environmental samples for microbiological analysis. Conduct aseptic samplings for evaluation of compressed air and cleaning/sanitization processes. Perform basic identification of microorganisms (Gram stain). Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the laboratory. Prepare samples for shipment to an outside contract laboratory for microbiological testing. Perform related support activities and duties as assigned. Follow all Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other regulatory requirements. Perform laboratory tasks using general microbiological laboratory techniques and procedures. Follow internal sampling methods and quality control systems. Perform general mathematics (addition/subtraction/multiplication/division, dilutions, proportions, percentages). Utilize and understand computer applications and programs (Word, Excel, Office 365, LIMS). Essential Skills Proficiency in microbiological testing, aseptic techniques, and gram staining. Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a related science field from an accredited college or university. 6 months to 1 year of related laboratory work experience in a regulated environment. Understanding of GMP, GLP, and filtration techniques. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively. Strong communication and customer service skills. Opportunities to support investigations, document revisions, and train in technical writing skills. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Orangeburg, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $60000.00/yr. 5% Target Bonus annually Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k match, etc. Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Orangeburg,NY.
