Job Description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS AN INTERN!
Thank you for your interest in becoming an intern with Pasco County Board of County Commissioners and giving back to your community. In Pasco County, We strive to provide excellent public services that meet the needs of our citizens and enhance the quality of life for our residents and visitors. This position offers interns an opportunity to get to know more about the Pasco County Utilities and its array of departments. It offers an opportunity to shadow staff in their daily job functions as well as take on projects to better organize the Utilities. Interns for the Pasco County Utilities will embark on a semester-long internship that will provide students the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills gained from the classroom in a hand-on, professional environment. They will assist in researching and conducting special projects as assigned. The intern will take a leading role in organizing and digitizing files in our project files, office space, as well as functions of the Engineering and Analytics teams. Within a timeframe that is agreeable to both the student and department, a student internship may design and complete a project relevant to area of study. The internship will mutually benefit Pasco County and provide students the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills gained.
Some essential functions would be:
Participate in updating the data for utilities programs. Physical file management for Capital Improvement Projects and Private Development files, including labeling and organizing. Find trends with utilities program data and associated costs. Help develop data collection methods for utilities. Participate in Structured Query Language (SQL) and data management platforms. Participate in business analytics dashboards (Microsoft Power BI) or other data visualization tools for complex projects/programs. Join with the utilities planning team in using existing Water, Reclaimed Water and Wastewater hydraulic models to perform calculations. Learn and assist with keeping the models up to date with the latest new customers/developments and other projects. Be a part of the identification and optimization of Capital Improvement Projects. Help develop cost estimates for Capital Improvement Projects. Learn about and help develop population projects and flow projections. General office duties as prescribed by your manager. Additional release forms and background check authorizations forms may be required prior to the first day of Volunteer/Internship activities. Intern will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Program Manager and members of the Utilities Administration team, who will train and coach the intern on work assigned.
PHYSICAL SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
: Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college or university. Must be 18 years of age.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license.
