River-Coastal Science and Engineering Location New Orleans, Louisiana Open Date Feb 20, 2026 Description A post-doctoral scholar position is available immediately in the Sea Level Lab of Dr. Sönke Dangendorf to work on DoD, NSF and NASA funded projects related to the reconstruction and analysis of coastal mean sea-level changes with a particular focus on the reconstruction of sterodynamic sea level, the application of cyclostationary empirical orthogonal functions, and machine learning approaches. The position is located in the Department of River-Coastal Science and Engineering at Tulane University, which values diversity in all forms and is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. Possible projects include (1) assessments of spatiotemporal sea-level fields, (2) mapping reconstructions of coastal sea-level changes based on tide gauge and ancillary information, and (3) building Bayesian frameworks that properly take into account uncertainties of different observational and model networks. Applicants with a background in some of the followings are especially encouraged to apply: physical oceanography, coastal engineering, geodesy, geosciences, and sea-level science. The earliest start date is March 27th, 2026. The position would be for one year (contingent upon annual review at year 1) with the possibility of further extension. The starting salary is 60,000 $ + full benefits. PhD in one of these fields: Physical Oceanography, Coastal Engineering, Geodesy, or Geosciences.Preferred:
Experience working with tide gauge data, satellite data, geodetic data (GNSS, INSAR), hydrographic profiles, MATLAB and/or FORTRAN and/or PYTHON, statistical and numerical modelling experience, and climate modelsApplication Instructions To Apply Submit:
